‘The Divergent Series: Ascendant’: Franchise to Conclude with a T.V. Movie & Spinoff Series

Oh yeah this franchise existed. (I’ve not seen even one of the Divergent films)

If there really are any fans of the Divergent series you’re probably in shock with this headline, don’t be because nobody saw the films anyhow. So per [Variety] The final Divergent film won’t be going into theatres but instead will hit the small screen which most likely won’t even feature the original cast. Oh boy, this franchise was just a big giant failure wasn’t it?

Lionsgate who also distributed The Hunger Games series are keen to wrap this all up bu having ‘The Divergent Series: Ascendant’ be a T.V. movie would set up a potential T.V. Show series with a new bunch of characters and cast, but as you know very few Movie to T.V. Series never work out, for example look what happened to Zombieland.

The young adult genre is very much dead at this point, The Divergent films started out promising with the first both two taking in over $288 Million worldwide each but with the third film in the series ‘The Divergent Series: Allegiant’ bombing at the box office this year taking in only $179 Million, it’s pretty much understandable why Liongate pulled the plug on this sinking ship.

Lionsgate were in production of the final installment ‘Ascendant’ and after those disappointing box office results came in they altered the course by wanting to save money of course.

I’m not surprised in the least, hell I’ve never even seen one of these films and there’s been three of them, I don’t see this franchise doing any well on T.V. it just seems like Lionsgate doesn’t know what to do with this property as it’s pretty much worthless at this point. Maybe I’ll get around to finally watching these movies to be edgy.
