‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’: James Gunn reveals why Revealing Star Lord’s Father isn’t a Spoiler

At San Diego Comic-Con last week it was revealed the character Kurt Russell would be playing would be the father of none  other than Peter Quill aka Star Lord played by the infamous Chris Pratt with even his character name ‘Ego the Living Planet’ being revealed.

This seems like a big bomb to drop casually considering much anticipation for the sequel is based around that entire story arch with it being an underlying thread throughout the first film. Well James Gunn took to Facebook to explain how exactly the reveal isn’t really a spoiler at all but a necessity in the marketing tool which will be used for the film, because the gig still is a business at the end of the day.

This reveal for me doesn’t hurt my excitement for the film in any way  in fact it gives me a good understanding for what we’re in for without giving us anything more than what we should know much like Star Wars and every other major release these days, it’s just what we have to deal with in this era of film and the internet in general because people like me love writing about new details that slip out and all that jazz.

Here’s what Gunn wrote:

  1. I’m still a little surprise of who is the father (the character I mean). Whether it’s a good choice or not, I’m still uber excited to see the Vol. 2!
